Micah Brown, founder and CEO of Broylman Memorial Group, looks back at his career transition from professional fishing to the cemetery industry and his company’s growth in this interview with CemeteryVision.com.

Brown looks back at how he entered the cemetery business 11 years ago through door-to-door sales before starting Broylman Memorial Group, originally called Legacy Memorial Group. Under his determined leadership, the company has grown from two small cemeteries in Virginia to 18 cemeteries across multiple states, with recent acquisitions including three properties from Heritage Family Group in Tennessee.

He also describes his company’s focus on helping employees grow personally and professionally while becoming a great cemetery choice in each community he serves.

Impressively, Brown has not taken on debt as he’s acquired more cemeteries, funding growth through organic profits. Throughout the conversation, he shares insights on the cemetery M&A market, including current valuation trends and competition levels for acquisitions, as well as what it takes to succeed in the cemetery business.
